Presbyterian Camps, Saugatuck, Michigan

Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Every Assembly month for the last 3 years or so, I received a request to write an article about Presbyterian Camps. So it was not a surprise that I received this request once again. For the first time, it difficult to write.

Spring has always been an exciting time for camp staff and the Camp Oversight and Development Work Group (CODWG) as we anticipate another summer camping season. We are busy with hiring summer staff, planning curriculum, readying cabins; preparing for the opportunity to share God’s creation and Jesus with all who spend time at Presbyterian Camps.

With the sale of the Camp pending and more real than ever, we prepare for what seems to be our final summer camping season at the property known as Presbyterian Camps.

It is hard to put in words all the emotions and grief that come with this realization. How do we make this the best season ever, a more special summer than other summers?

What can we do to make it a memory of a lifetime? We can’t! When I think back on our family’s 26 years of Family Camp at Presbyterian Camps, each one holds special moments, each experience is different and “best” in their own way. Each one is a memory of a lifetime. I am confident it is the same for all who have had opportunities to experience God and Jesus at camp. I am convinced camp experiences change people’s lives and draw them into community and closer to God and God’s creation.

So we continue to prepare; for the special moments; for the “best” camping season ever; for memories that last a lifetime.

There are still opportunities to spend time at Presbyterian Camps. Our next open camp is Memorial Day weekend. Come and help put the finishing touches on readying the camp for summer as we enjoy God’s creation.

Check out the website at for other summer opportunities or contact the camp at 269.857.3751 for information about other available times.
