June 18, 2013 Assembly

In June, Chicago Presbytery celebrated the future of the church, as it examined and approved  for ordination five young adult teaching elders. The assembly approved a covenant between the Presbytery of Chicago and the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago. The Empower Ministry Mission Priority Leadership Team introduced the recipients of Higgins Scholarships.

In February 2012, an administrative commission (AC) was formed in response to the First Presbyterian Church of Waukegan, along with its pastor, David Eikenberry, asking to be dismissed to the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. After more than a year of prayerful dialogue, the AC recommended dismissing First Church. The presbytery reluctantly approved Waukegan’s request and prayed that God may bless the pastor and congregation in their new denominational home.
