Camp Property Sale Decision

Meeting at Chicago’s Fourth Presbyterian Church on February 8, the Chicago Presbytery Assembly voted favorably on a resolution to sell the Presbyterian Camps property in Saugatuck, MI. The commissioners’ vote was 154 in favor, 89 against, and 2 abstentions.

Closing on the contract will occur by February 14 when all 130 acres will be sold to Dune Ridge SA, LP. The Presbytery will receive $9 million by February 14, which will be sufficient to repay its outstanding debt in full. An additional $1 million will be due the Presbytery no later than eighteen months after closing.

Sadly, the Presbytery’s Century-long ministry at Presbyterian Camps has concluded its final chapter. In time, and by the grace of God, a future camping vision will be cast by church and Presbytery leaders that builds on the foundation of this long and fruitful ministry.
