Assembly Follow-up

As approved by last Saturday’s Assembly, today the Presbyterian camp property in Saugatuck, Michigan, was sold to Dune Ridge, Incorporated. Proceeds from the sale have ended the presbytery’s $7.4 million indebtedness with U.S. Bank, and next week the presbytery’s $450,000 loan from the Synod of Lincoln Trails will be repaid as well. Further details, including opportunities for personal farewells at the camp, will be forwarded as they become available; the presbytery will have access to the property until April 30.

There is certainly relief that the burden of debt has been lifted. However, in the loss of the camp there is sadness for all of us and a deep heartache for many of us. We pray that the Spirit of the living God will be at work in ways we can neither imagine nor anticipate to bring the grace and peace of which we are all in need.
