Camping 2014

The God of Creation said, “Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

In the Spirit of these words of Isaiah 43.19, here is an invitation to look for “a new thing” in camping ministry this coming Summer. In the not so distant future, your churches will be receiving a detailed brochure about Presbytery sponsored camping opportunities at the Geneva Center in Rochester, IN and the Stronghold Camp and Retreat Center in Oregon, IL. This will provide dates, places, and even secret tips about the hotly contested question: What is the time-tested best way to capture lightening bugs?*

Prayerfully, this will provide a way through the wilderness and into a new chapter of Family and Youth Camps, Voluntary Camp Counseling, and the joy of god’s Creation through camping ministry.

If you can’t wait and need to know more now OR you would like to become a part of the planning team, please contact Adam Malak ( and he will gladly answer your requests, as well as provide the trappings for s’mores.

Also, be on the lookout for our interactive inquiry at the April Assembly meeting. Thinking hats and friendly conversation are the only gear you will need for this adventure. God’s grace springs up, do you not see it? Look to the Son and all will be illuminated.

*Actually, this hint will not be provided, it was merely a clever ploy to increase interest and excitement.
