Hygiene Kits Harvest – Bring to November 21 Assembly

Regarding: Hygiene Kits Harvest — August 31, 2015

The recent images of the devastation following earthquakes, tornadoes, and other natural disasters have been heartbreaking.  One way to respond is to join in the Hygiene Kits Harvest.  This effort, endorsed by The Presbytery of Chicago and sponsored by the Church World Service Mission Team, is an opportunity for groups to assemble CWS Hygiene Kits and bring them to Presbytery assembly on November 21 be dedicated and then delivered to those in need.

Can your congregation bring at least 30 Hygiene Kits to the Harvest?

To assemble a Hygiene Kit you will need:

  • One hand towel measuring approximately 16″ x 28″ (no fingertip or bath towels)
  • One washcloth
  • One wide-tooth comb
  • One nail clipper
  • One bar of soap (bath size in wrapper)
  • One toothbrush (in original packaging)
  • Six standard size Band-Aids®

All items must be new. Place all items in a one-gallon plastic bag with a zipper closure, remove excess air from bag, and seal.  Please include only the items listed above. Place the Kits in boxes.  In the top left corner of the box please indicate:  1) The name and address of your church or group and 2) The number and kind of Kit inside.

Arrange for your pastor or representative to bring them to the Presbytery assembly on November 21st, in Lake Forest.  We will bless the Kits and send them to the warehouse in New Windsor, MD.  (This saves you the cost of mailing the Kits to the warehouse.)

Thanks for being a part of the very first Presbytery of Chicago Kits Harvest!  If you have any questions, please contact the CWS Mission Team at (630) 200-4571.
