Proactive Transformation Project
The Presbytery of Chicago is seeking to resource congregations that are located in changing neighborhoods and communities and are yearning to engage these changes with a proactive and transformative attitude. This could be economic, ethnic, racial or social change in the communities that you are currently working to provide a space of worship, mission and faith community. Congregations currently participating in the Acts 16:5 initiative or AACTC will not be targeted at this time but as the project unfolds many of the resources will be available to all churches in the POC.
Phases of Proactive Transformation
Collaborating with other congregations, denominational partners, and with the coordinator of the Proactive Transformation Project participating congregations will articulate where they have been and their vision for the future. They will also identify areas in need of transformation within the organization and life of their communities and set goals to achieve change.
Working together with the Coordinator and the Proactive Transformation Team they will identify what resources they need in terms of education and training that are geared to the specific needs of their congregation. Members of their congregation including lay-leaders and pastors will be equipped with the tools needed to create transformation.
This project is grant funded through the Presbytery of Chicago, Synod of Lincoln Trails and the General Assembly of the PC(USA) and grows out of the Develop Congregations Mission Priority Leadership Team. The team for Proactive Transformation will work in collaboration with Empower Ministry, Advanced Justice and the Commission on Ministry as well as other individuals and entities to provide resources that are applicable to the visioning of each participating congregation.
If you are a member of a congregation that is interested in engaging a creative and powerful future story and would like to access resources to do so please fill out the proposal form that is either attached here or available on the web. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call Tassie Green, Coordinator for Proactive Transformation.
Peace,
