Statement from METF on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
Read about the history of METF and its current work regarding Israel and Palestine. The paper is a response to the Ecumenical and Interreligious Work Group of Chicago Presbytery’s effort to find the way to a Just and Peaceful Compromise of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict.

Origin

The Middle East Task Force was appointed in the fall of 1974 by the Committee on Church and Society of the Chicago Presbytery, to implement the recommendations of the 186th General Assembly that “presbyteries encourage study and foster dialogue in response to the current Middle East conflict.” Thirty-nine years after its formation, the conflict in the Middle East, specifically in Israel and the occupied Palestinian Territories, has intensified, and efforts to achieve a peaceful and just solution for both parties proceed slowly if at all.
