Communications (this description is being revised-July 2009)
The Communications Work Group coordinates the communications activities of the Presbytery of Chicago.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all routine and special Communications functions pertaining to the Presbytery, including Our Common Ministry (the Presbytery newsletter), other print media, electronic communications, media and public relations, and ad hoc activities;
- Establish policies and procedures to assure fair representation from diverse groups within Presbytery communications;
- Oversee task forces (if and/or when formed) to address Print Communications; Electronic Communications; Media/Public Relations; and ad hoc projects;
- Engage and oversee communications consultants as needed, and coordinate activities with Presbytery communications staff;
- Consult with other Work Groups to identify and enhance areas of common interest and shared strategy;
- Consult with the Presbytery Council Coordinating Work Group regarding all work group human resource vacancies, and recruit and recommend to the Presbytery Council nominees to fill such vacancies;
- Coordinate the work group recruiting process with the Presbytery’s Committee on Nominations;
- Develop and recommend Communications Work Group budget to the Budget Work Group, and operate within approved budget.
