Information Systems

On behalf of Presbytery Council, the Information Systems Work Group assesses the Presbytery’s use of information technology; documents the technology needed to support the Presbytery’s stated vision and future direction; makes recommendations to the Presbytery Council for implementing information technology; monitors and manages implementation projects; and provides guidance and direction for day-to-day management of the environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, recommend, implement and annually update a 2 to 3 year technology utilization plan that supports the Presbytery’s stated vision and future direction;
  2. Develop, recommend and implement policies enabling a secure, efficient environment. Policies would address hardware management and replacement, software retention, data backup and re-covery, and disaster recovery and other topics as required;
  3. Develop and recommend standards for hardware and software utilized by the Presbytery. This would include desktop workstations, laptops, servers, networking components and associated software (both operating system and applications);
  4. Provide oversight and direction for the Presbytery’s web site;
  5. Develop and recommend policies and procedures covering content, usage and day-to-day management of the web site;
  6. Research and recommend IS services utilized by the Presbytery;
  7. Provide direction for all implementation projects including overseeing, monitoring, and evaluating the work of external consultants;
  8. Evaluate staffing needs and make appropriate recommendations to the Staff Personnel Work Group;
  9. Develop, recommend and oversee an annual budget for information technology expenditures that adequately supports the implementation of the technology utilization plan.

Membership and Term:

Seven members, including the moderator. Membership should include individuals with strong information technology background as well as those without. One-year renewable term with a maximum of three consecutive terms.
