Knox is seeking a dynamic individual with a passion for children and family ministry to be our Director of Children & Family Ministries. This position is 32+ hours a week and the individual we are looking for has a passion to ignite and nurture children and their families to have a genuine relationship with God and help them to build Christian relationships with others. You will have opportunities to be creative in developing new programs and maintaining the exciting events and programs that our Children’s Ministry already has in place. You will help to lead our Children’s Ministries Council and other Knox team members. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, create, plan, implement and supervise all Christian Education programs for children & families at Knox Presbyterian Church for children age pre-K through grade 8.
  • Serve as staff liaison to the Children’s Ministries Council in developing the above programs.
  • Recruit, train and provide resources for teachers, part-time staff, and volunteers for the above programs
  • Create events, and opportunities for outreach to children and families to engage them in Christian fellowship, education, and mission and connect them to the life of the church.
  • Effectively communicate these programs to the congregation.
  • Order materials, attend and supervise programming and coordinate room usage for all Children & Family programs.
  • Manage and track the Children’s Ministry budget & Family Ministry budget
  • In conjunction with the Children’s Ministry Council, strategize and implement new programming that will enable new families to have a relationship with God
  • Follow-up with visitors, providing a point of contact and outreach from Knox.
  • Work with the Directors of Youth Ministries and Music in coordinating programs.
  • Be a part of the church staff team by attending and contributing to staff and programming meetings. Encourage and support the overall mission of the church by interpreting the church’s mission to both children and their families.
  • Maintain an ongoing program for study and enrichment through reading, participation in professional groups and continuing education opportunities.
  • Plan and promote a summer camp program for Knox youth and a Family Camp for Knox families in conjunction with Children’s Ministry Council.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree. Graduate degree in Christian Education or a related field preferred. 2 years experience in Christian education or related field is a plus. A love for and understanding of children is essential as well as a commitment to the Christian education of all ages. Demonstrated abilities in organizational and administrative skills are necessary. A strong dedication to the Christian faith is of primary importance.

Compensation: Salary and benefits; professional expense allowance; educational expense allowance; paid vacation and holidays

Additional information: Regular office hours, program attendance and attendance at weekly staff meetings and Children’s Ministry Council meetings; coordination and collaboration with pastoral and other program staff; access to office and support staff.
