Havana Chicago Partnership: Rev. Izett Samá Hernández visit to Chicago

Rev. Izett Samá Hernández

The Havana Chicago Partnership – composed of congregations within the Presbytery of Chicago who each maintain a partnership with a congregation on the island of Cuba – is pleased to announce that we have partnered with congregations in Denver, NYC, Southampton and Saratoga Springs, New York to plan a nearly month-long visit to the US by Rev. Izett Samá Hernández and her spouse, Glenda Martinez Cabrera.  Their visit began in New York on January 5 and will include nearly a week in the Chicago area, January 16 – 22.

The Chicago leg of this trip will be funded by a portion of a 2023 grant from the Presbytery’s Mission committee, and we would love for anyone interested in learning about this particular grant, and about this 20+ year partnership, to join us for one of two worship services on Sunday, January 21.

Izett and Glenda will be participating in morning worship (9:30) at the Presbyterian Church of Western Springs on January 21, and at the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago at 2:00 that afternoon.  Please join us for one (or both!) services if you are able.

Questions can be addressed to Kathy Wennerstrum, Moderator of Havana Chicago Partnership.
